Synopsis
The pace of recent progress in technology for producing high strength and ultra high-strength concrete is remarkable. Currently, high-strength concrete with an Fc in the range of 60-80N/mm2 or Fc equal to 100N/mm2 can be produced by using widely available AEand high-range water reducing agents, and by selecting the appropriate mix proportion andtype of cement. However, as testing and actual placement of ultra high-strength concreteincreases, higher-range water-reducing agents have been required to improve the placeability . As a result, AE and high-range water reducing agents exhibiting ultrahigh-water reduction have been developedand marketed. This study outlines the currentstatus of AE and high-range water-reducing agents for ultra high-strength concrete in terms of their types, chemical structures, action mechanisms, concrete test results, and actual applications.
