Inspection and Repair of Maeshima Bridge

Synopsis
The route of Amakusa Pearl Line was constructed by Japan Highway Public Corporation andcompleted in 1966. Int contains five bridges, the fourth of which is named Maeshima Bridge. After 27 years in service, cracks and rusty stains were found on concrete surfaces of the bridge. Due to severe environments on shore, further damage by chloride attack was expected. Consequently, inspection of the concrete structure was conducted. Based on the results of the inspection, repairing techniques were decided. This report summarizes these inspection and repair of Maeshima Bridge.
