By H. Yoshikawa and T. Nakamura

Concrete Journal, Vol.45, No.4, Apr. 2007

Synopsis
Seismic risk is applied to judgment of efficient seismic measures and earthquake disaster prevention, because the seismic damage can be described as an amount of loss directly. This report outlines a definition of seismic risk and the seismic risk estimation method. Especially, the methods of evaluating a seismic fragility curve and a damage function are shown for reinforced concrete structures. As the application example, the building and the civil engineering facilities are adopted, and then risk assessment procedures are introduced.
Keywords:
Reinforced concrete, Seismic risk, seismic Fragility curve, Damage function, Accumulation risk and individual risk, Expected loss, Seismic risk curve
