Recommendations for Design and Construction of Concrete Structures Using Stainless Steel Bars-Draft-
By T. Maruya and J. Niwa

Concrete Journal, Vol.46, No.12, Dec.2008

Synopsis
The recommendations for stainless steel bars in concrete were published in September 2008 from JSCE. The contents of the recommendations contain terminological definition for stainless steel bar, quality, design value and methods of verification on steel corrosion. Experimental results are shown especially about the feature of stainless steel bars, improvement of corrosion resistivity, with the result that the chloride threshold ion concentration of stainless steel bars is greater than that of carbon steel bars. In addition, the following matters as an important reminder are described, those are general structural details, construction and inspection for stainless steel bars.
Keywords:
stainless steel bar, SUS 304-SD, SUS 316-SD, SUS 410-SD, stress-strain curve, corrosion resistivity, chloride threshold ion concentration, bimetallic corrosion
