Synopsis
This paper outlines the findings of the Subcommittee on Research of the Old Movable Weir in the Ohkouzu Diversion Channel (2011-2013) established by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers for the purpose of investigating the old moveable weir, which was removed in connection with the reconstruction of the movable weir in the Ohkouzu Diversion Channel. This investigation, which was conducted from a variety of perspectives, namely historical studies in civil engineering, river engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and concrete engineering, shed light on the design concept and technical features of the old moveable weir, among other things.
