Concrete Journal, Vol.53, No.11, Nov. 2015

Synopsis
The Thirteenth Edition of the Architectural Institute of Japan's Japanese Architectural Standard Specification JASS 5 Reinforced Concrete Work was issued in July of this year. This revision being a minor one, the basic framework of the JASS 5 revision of 2009 was retained, and the section structure of that document was left unchanged. Changes to the main text of the document were also kept to a minimum, and based on the results of a user survey, new information was incorporated to achieve closer alignment with actual practices, along with reflecting in the commentaries the regulation amendments and revisions that occurred since the last revision. The largest changes made were in the areas of terminology, hot weather concreting, mass concrete, and recycled aggregate concrete. This paper introduces the main revisions, including the above, made to the various sections.
