Synopsis
The Japan Society of Civil Engineers' Guidelines for Retrofit of Concrete Structures (Draft), in use since 1999, have been revised and newly published as "Guidelines for Structural Intervention of Existing Concrete Structures Using Cement-Based Materials" in June 2018. As these new guidelines cover overlaying methods and jacketing methods using mortar and concrete, including polymer cement mortars, they are organized into a General section, a Top-Surface Overlaying Method section, a Bottom-Surface Overlaying Method section, and a Jacketing Method section. Further, as appendices, the state of the art of these three intervention methods, representative application examples, and a design example including performance verification, have been prepared. The aims of this revision are to support new materials such as PCM, enhance content based on application results, introduce new verification methods for problems such as debonding in the case of the bottom-surface overlaying method, and adaptation to the revision of the Standard Specifications for Concrete Structures, which is the higher standard.
