JCI-RILEM International Workshop on "Control of Cracking of Mass Concrete and Related Issues Concerning Early Age Cracking of Concrete Structures"

ConCrack5 24-26 April 2017 | Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo

Welcome to ConCrack5

Welcome Address to CONCRACK5

We cordially invite all of you to participate and contribute to CONCRACK5.

The JCI-RILEM International Workshop CONCRACK5, to be held in April 24-26, 2017, Tokyo, which succeeds to CONCRACK3 held in Paris, March 2012, consists of keynote lectures, invited lectures and general presentations, as well as the lecture of JCI guidelines on control of cracking of mass concrete (revised edition 2016). With this call for papers, we would like to encourage you to propose a presentation of your work and experience on the topics of this workshop.

In fact, early age cracking often occurred in important concrete structures, namely mass concrete structures and/or made of high performance concrete. For this reason, the control of early age cracking is important and indispensable to make such concrete structures durable, resulting in reduced life cycle cost and decrease of CO2 footprint.

The CONCRACK5 International Workshop should provide an opportunity to learn the most advanced technologies and exchange the latest information on control of early age cracking.

As is well known, Tokyo where CONCRACK5 will be held, is one of the biggest cities in the world. Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held in the same city in 2020. For these Games, infrastructures have been developed and existing infrastructures have been rehabilitated. A large scale stadium will also be built, illustrating the challenges of ever higher expectations from concrete constructions.

We believe that all of participants can enjoy CONCRACK5 and appreciate being exposed to the combination of traditional and modern cultures in Tokyo.
