High Performance Lightweight Concrete

- The new artificial lightweight aggregate, of which has both higher strength and lower water absorption than the ordinary lightweight aggregates, has been developed recently. And high performance lightweight concrete using this aggregate can obtain lightweight, stronger compressive strength, greater durability and easier handling than those of conventional lightweight concrete. The manufacturing method and basic properties of the new type of the artificial lightweight aggregate, fresh and mechanical behavior and the application to structural component of high performance lightweight concrete using this aggregate are reported in this paper.
