Synopsis
The NUMAKUNAI Bridge in Tohoku Shinkansen Line between Morioka to Hachinohe was constructed by concrete using high performance artificial lightweight aggregate that had both higher strength and lower water absorption than the ordinary. The bridge is the prestressed concrete box girder bridge having 11 spans. The specified concrete strength was 40 N/mm2 and the unit weight of concrete was 1800 kg/m3. The concrete mixed poly-propylene fiber was also applied to the part of over roadway and railway. Though it was the first application of this type of concrete to the large-scale structure, the properties of concrete were examined carefully. Mix proportion was selected by the laboratory tests carried out on workability, strength, durability and resistance to stripping-off. The loading tests of anchorage zone of prestressed concrete ware also carried out. In addition, field tests were also carried out in order to verify the pompability and placeability of concrete. In this report, the results of those tests on high performance lightweight aggregate concrete, and the construction work ware are disucussed.
