Synopsis
The Japanese Industrial Standard for Eco-cement has been enacted in July 2002. The CCPC (Chiba Concrete Product Cooperation) published a manual, which underlines the fundamental guidelines for using Eco-cement as a concrete material. This paper describes the contents of this manual, and the outline of the test construction that was carried out by Chiba Prefecture. In addition, the qualities of the concrete specimens as well as the concrete products made of Eco-cement in the factory are explained in this paper.
Although Eco-cement concrete exhibits similar fresh/hardened properties when compared with concrete made of ordinary Portland cement, the total amount of chloride ion in the former is higher than that of the latter. Therefore, the chloride ion content in Eco-cement concrete should be carefully evaluated by using the proper method. In order for Eco-cement to gain a wider acceptance, it is necessary to guarantee the uniform quality of Eco-cement itself, as well to investigate the durability of Eco-cement concrete. Further investigations are needed to accumulate data on these factors.
