Synopsis
A 50 m span pre-stressed concrete footbridge named 'Sakata Mirai Footbridge' has been completed as a result of the technical development of design and construction applications of ultra high strength fiber reinforced concrete with a range of 200 N/mm2 in compressive strength. A new generation material RPC (Reactive Powder Concrete), which has been developed in France, was succeeded in improving the strength characteristics by using the densest packing theory as well as the ductility characteristics by mixing the specially designed steel fiber. Based on the transferred technology of RPC, authors have been developed the material mixing design method using available low materials in domestic and also developed the unique design and the construction method which have never been before. Those newly developed design and construction technologies have been proved through the construction of 'Sakata Mirai Footbridge'.
