Synopsis
Notification No.1463-2000 of the Ministry of Construction along the amended Building Standard Law states that the designated splices of reinforcing bars must follow the enumerated specifications or be verified their performance through the loading tests. The subcommittee for the performance of the splices in Japan Pressure Welding Society (JPWS) carried out the cyclic tensile loading tests and bending tests of gas pressure welded joint. The results of the tests indicate that the almost every gas pressure welded joint along the standard specification of JPWS have adequate performance for alternate splices at hinged zone or aligned splices at un-hinged zone. The results also point out that another considerations for the splices of SD 490 bars are necessary.
