Synopsis
The historical concrete structures regarded as heritage of infractructures prove its high durability accompanied by good quality of concrete cover. On the other hand, some of concrete structures constructed recently by the rationalized construction method show the relatively earlier deterioration. However, it is not quantitatively recognized how different their qualities of cover concrete are. Thus, it is of our concern to quantitatively detect the actual quality of cover concrete in various existing structures and compare them in terms of barrier performance to corrosion of reinforcement. On this line JSCE TC335 in Concrete committee has widely conducted field surveys for various types and aged structures and its activities are briefly introduced.
