Concrete Journal, Vol.47, No.12, Dec. 2009

Synopsis
Technical development with regard to concrete deck slab of highway bridges so far was firstly reviewed with emphasis on the durability against inherent severe loadings and environmental condition of a deck slab. Then, the recent trend and the significat effect of transverse prestressing in concrete slabs was described including the use of pre-grouted prestressing strands by means of delayed-hardening epoxy resin although urgent problems had been reported relating to the hardening process of the resin, etc.. To solve the problems, development and utilization of Multi-unbonded epoxy-coated strand cable for the use in transverse prestressing were proposed and discussed according to experimental results.
