Synopsis
This "General Principles" part is a new edition in the Standard Specifications for Concrete Structures (here-in-after called "the Specifications"). At the beginning of each volume of the 2007 version of the Specifications, a section entitled "On the Application of the Specification" was provided to cover the basic concept regarding the organization of the Specifications including the roles and placement of engineers in charge, and the systems for ensuring reliability of concrete structures, among other things. The General Principles part further expands the concepts of this section of the 2007 version, and clearly sets the stance of the Specifications with regards to the "environment", along with aiming to facilitate understanding of the basic principles and system presented throughout the Specifications.
