Synopsis
High strength concrete and high strength steel bars are currently being used for reinforced concrete structures, and the use of high-strength materials makes it possible to reduce the sectional area of R/C members, Nevertheless, beam column joints should transverse flexural moment, shear force, axial force and keep bond strength of longitudinal bars passing through joints. This paper presents an application of R/C beam-column joints using hinge relocation technology that relocates the beam plastic hinges from the column faces to the beam faces. This reinforced design is accomplished using the combination of U-shaped longitudinal bars and headed bars as double-layer longitudinal bars. Two research phases are described in this paper, and special beam column joints which are perforated at beam ends by means of the relocation of beam plastic hinges are proposed.
