Synopsis
“Design Guidelines for Lateral Load-carrying Capacity Calculation of Prestressed Concrete Buildings (Draft)” has been published by Architectural Institute of Japan in 2020. Many PC buildings were designed using the revised seismic design method in 1981. However, there is no guideline from AIJ about its design method of PC structures. The characteristic of this guideline that a damage control design for the 1st level and a safety design for the 2nd level, are clearly shown. The members have to be designed serviceability limit at the 1st level. And the lateral load-carrying capacity calculation for the assumed hinge mechanism of a building, are carried out at the 2nd level.
