Synopsis
The sampling method for fresh concrete is specified in JIS A 1115, and most ready-mixed concrete plants discard 50 to 100 L of the first concrete discharged from the truck agitator before collecting the samples required for testing. First, a comparative experiment was conducted to reduce industrial waste and save labor for testing by reducing the amount of sample to be removed. The results of this experiment confirmed that the influence on the test results was extremely small, even when samples were taken in the range of 20 to 50 liters with the initial volume to be discarded set at 20 liters. Further, along with the preparation of basic data for the reduction of the amount of material to be initially discarded, we proposed that the volume guarantee at the time of manufacture be reduced to 50 L.
