Synopsis
In the construction of box culverts, precast components for structure construction are employed to save labor at construction sites and shorten construction schedules. However, due to transportation, installation, and other constraints, this method is often limited to small to mediumsized box culvert construction projects. Therefore, the authors have developed a construction method for box culverts that partially replaces the side walls and top slab with precast members. This method, through the partial introduction of precast components, significantly reduces the need for reinforcing steel, formwork, and shoring, thus enhancing the productivity of structure construction work. This paper provides an overview of the developed box culvert construction method using some precast members, presents the results of reversed cycling loading tests conducted during development, and introduces an actual field application example.
