- Synopsis
- The Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) has published the Recommendations for Design and Construction of Very High Strength Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composite Structures (Draft). The target materials are very high strength fiber reinforced cementitious composites (VFC) with compressive strength of 60 N/mm2 or higher, up to approximately 150 N/mm2. These recommendations present the fundamental concepts for using VFC within the existing framework of design, construction, and maintenance for conventional concrete structures. For structural design, the fiber bridging effect after crack initiation is considered. Since this effect is influenced by the orientation and dispersion of fibers, an orientation factor has been newly introduced. In addition, combined use with reinforcing bars is also possible.
