Synopsis
It has been six years since the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ) revised the Standard for Structural Calculation of Reinforced Concrete Structures in 2018. The 2024 revision introduces enhanced commentary on flat slab and flat plate structures, clarifications of the definition and application method of the reduction factor based on opening height in calculating the allowable shear force of wall members, enhanced commentary on pile caps, and the revision of allowable shear force of beams with web openings, among other things. The 2024 revision also reflects revisions of related standards and guidelines. This includes the specification of the types of reinforcing bars to be used in accordance with revisions to reinforcement-related JIS standards.
