- Synopsis
- This paper first introduces the fundamental concept of the Operating Characteristic (OC) curve in the conformity assessment of compressive strength of ready mixed concrete. It then presents a linear approximation method of the OC curve, which more clearly represents the relationship between the lot fraction nonconformity and the probability of acceptance, and explains how the basic parameter values in the conformity assessment criteria are derived. The paper further discusses the background of the conformity assessment criteria defined in the European standard EN 206-1 (2000) and the International standard ISO 22965, as well as the conformity assessments in the 1986 edition of the JSCE Standard Specifications for Concrete Structures and in JIS A 5308, which is based on probabilistic assumptions, in relation to the linearly approximated OC curve.
