Authors' Guide

Call for Abstracts
We invite you to submit abstracts according to the following guidelines:

1. Submit your abstract through the symposium website.


2. Themes and Topics

The main symposium topics include high-strength concrete, self-compacting concrete, high-performance fiber reinforced concrete, highly durable concrete, high-ductility concrete. Other topics will be considered.
The sub-themes for submitting abstracts are:

  • Testing Methods and Standardization
  • Concrete and Reinforcing Materials
  • Fresh Properties and Constructability
  • Mechanical Properties
  • Structural Performance
  • Durability and Long term Performance
  • Design Considerations
  • Fire Resistance
  • Applications




  • 3. Format Guidelines
    The following format guidelines should be used:

  • The abstract should be written in English and should not exceed 300 words.
  • Specific objective(s) of the study or project, and the methods and results, should be stated, but tables, figures and footnotes should be omitted.



  • 4. Review
    Members of the International Advisory Board and the International Scientific Committee will anonymously review all submissions, and then recommend abstracts for rejection or acceptance to the Organizing Committee.



    5. Abstract Acceptance and Notification
    Authors will be notified of the final decision via e-mail by end of February, 2008.

      Abstract acceptance and notification:

      Submission of manuscript:

      Notification of manuscript acceptance:

    Registration

    Registrants are urged to register before July 30, 2008 June 30, 2008 to obtain the early-bird registration fee and asked to apply using the online registration. The deadline for advance registration is October 13, 2008. Any registration forms received by our office after this date will not be processed until you arrive at the symposium site 8HSC-HPC.

    * Student fee does not include banquet fee. Students can purchase the additional banquet ticket separately for JPY 5,000. Students are required to present their student IDs at the registration desk at the symposium site. Without it, General fee will be charged.

    Accompanying persons are limited to the participants’ family members only.

  • Deadline for Advance Registration: October 13, 2008

  • Please note that registrations received after October 13, 2008 will be treated as “on-site” registration. We would appreciate your cooperation to register as early as possible.

    Payment must be made in Japanese yen and can be made in one of the following methods:

    Receipt will be given at the symposium site.

    CONFIRMATION
    Upon receiving the registration and confirming the payment, the Registration Office will send you a confirmation e-mail, bearing your registration number. Please print out and present the confirmation to the registration desk at the symposium site to receive the symposium materials.

    CANCELLATION
    If you cancel your participation in the symposium, please be sure to notify the Registration Office by e-mail or fax immediately. The following cancellation fee will apply, based on the date when the office receives notification of cancellation. All refunds will be made after the symposium. (We will make a deduction of bank transfer fee from the amount to be paid back.)

    When written notice of cancellation received:
    Until August 31, 2008 : Full refund
    September 1, 2008 through October 20, 2008 : 50% of the amount paid
    From October 21, 2008 : 100% of the amount paid (No refund)
